Hugo Makefile

In doing research on themes for this blog, I stumbled across one called Neofeed that had a really interesting Makefile. I was really intrigued by the idea of being able to run a command to start a new post or run the hugo dev server. However, my needs where a bit different from the author of Neofeed. I modified their Makefile to suit, and I’m excited to write this post about the result!

Hosting Mastodon on DitialOcean

I’ve been toying with the idea of setting up Mastodon on my own server for a while now. Today I finally got around to actually doing it (after a failed attempt a couple months ago). I found a guide that I loosely referred to and was immensely helpful at a couple points. At first I tried running on a super small $5 instance, which seemed fine during setup, but died every few requests when I started using it.

Build a Torrent Machine and Network Share

When I first got a Raspberry Pi the first thing I wanted to build was a home server. I wanted to have a central place at home to store files. I also thought it would be nice to have a torrent machine to handle downloading whatever I wanted. This past weekend I was finally able to get around to building it with a Raspberry Pi 2. I chose to use Diet Pi as my OS.

Christmas of 2015

This year’s Christmas was one for the books. As a father it was SO much fun to watch my two girls have the time of their little lives getting and playing with all their new toys. Their excitement and wonderment meant the world to me, even if I know they don’t fully understand everything. Before we went down, we had the girls get their Christmas Jamies on! When we went downstairs there wasn’t much ceremony to it at all.
